The key thing about this idea is that clubs should see themselves as open clubs—open to the wider community in which they find themselves rather than just focused on results inside the stadium, and open to all without discrimination by religion, gender, ethnicity or ability. This is a simple idea which they can translate into their particular catchment area and which has economic as well as social benefits for clubs.
