KBVB launches best of belgium football
The Belgian Football Association (KBVB) has developed an app aimed at raising participation and developing skills in the game, by building an online community around grassroots football.
‘Best of Belgian Football’ (BBF) gives every team the chance to become champion, even if they haven’t scored the most goals. The reason is because goals are not decisive in the BBF competition; instead each match is decided on three main factors: Respect, Spectacle, and Atmosphere.
The BBF score is therefore valid for both teams, stimulating the ‘prettiest’ football, on and off the field. Moreover, everyone has the chance to become the BBF champion, from national to local, boys and girls, young and old.
The beating heart of the Best of Belgian Football is a new app: each team’s BBF score is composed of the average of all the individual scores given by supporters, players and referees. Every weekend all scores are added together to form a Best of Belgian Football League.
In addition to just the BBF score, the app provides a wealth of other information for football fans. Fans can follow their favourite players closely: Is your cousin still top scorer? Did your daughter play this weekend? Fans are given an instant and useful overview of the entire Belgian football scene.
Furthermore, the BBF app not only provides the eyes and ears on any football going on in the country, it will also give fans digital maps that direct them to the games, and provides forewarning of match cancellations.
The app includes a wealth of stats, so that, for example, it’s possible to know whether the “Thomases” in Belgium have scored more than the “Jeroenes”; who scored the fastest on any given match day, and whether or not women have been given more or less red and yellow cards than men.
